Easy Money: Four Cash-Back Apps to Use Now

March 4, 2014

Coupons are a great way to save money during your shopping trip. But did you know you can keep saving money even after you’ve unloaded the groceries and shopping bags from the car? There are several apps that provide incentives for shoppers to buy certain products or shop at specific stores. By taking a few simple steps after your shopping trip you can put some of that money you spent back in your pocket.

Ibotta

ibotta

Ibotta is a free app to help you earn money every time you shop. Choose the products you plan to buy or already bought. Complete simple tasks like sending a promotional tweet, reading a message from the sponsor or watching a short video. Scan your receipt verifying the purchase of your qualified product. Then scan the item’s bar code. The app has already handed out close to $ 4 million in savings to users. Cash is easily deposited into your Paypal account.

SavingStar

SavingStar takes a little prep work. Before your shopping trip peruse e-coupons listed at SavingStar.com. Add the ones that interest you to your store’s loyalty card. Scan the card when you check out. Your total won’t change at checkout, but your savings will be transferred to your SavingStar account. You can also use this app on top of manufacturer and store coupons. Once you’ve earned $ 5 you can have it deposited into your bank account, PayPal account or opt to receive it in the form of an Amazon gift card.

Receipt Hog

No matter where you shop or what you buy you can save money with the free Receipt Hog app. Take pictures of all of your receipts, up to 20 per week. You’ll earn coins for each receipt. The more you spend the more coins you earn. You can also rack up coins by completing surveys. You can turn coins into cash that can be deposited to your Paypal account. Or you can choose to gamble your coins through the “Hog Slots” feature for a chance to win more cash and prizes.

CheckPoints

There are several ways to earn money through the CheckPoints app including taking quizzes and completing surveys. But one of the easiest is to do your online shopping through the site. Earn up to seven points for every dollar you spend at stores like Target, Walmart and Macy’s. Your points can be cashed in for e-gift cards to some of your favorite stores.

We’d love to hear about the apps you love and the apps that aren’t worth the effort. What apps do you use to help you earn cash back?
